Philip Smith (1845-1929; WWW), ecclesiastical lawyer and Church administrator; chancellor of four dioceses including Durham, 1903; original member of the Canterbury House of Laymen; author of several works on the law and institutions of the Church, including The law of churchwardens and sidesmen in the twentieth century (1904), and on biblical scholarship.
