Francis Crawford Burkitt (1864-1935; ODNB), biblical scholar and theological modernist. Trinity Coll., Cambridge; Norrisian professor of divinity, 1905-35; publications include 'Texts and Versions' in Encyclopaedia biblica (1903), two-volume edition of the old Syriac gospels (1904), and Jewish and Christian apocalypses (1914); sometime vice-president of the Churchmen's Union.
