1562nd day

After breakfast Mr Fielden shewed me the house – a noble specimen of Elizabethan domestic architecture; I also looked at the parish church – a commodious building with a notable timber roof, and some fine monuments. Then I presided at a meeting of the clergy of the Condover Deanery. We discussed the ‘Church & State’ Report, which most of them had evidently not read! After the meeting Mr Fielden entertained everybody at luncheon. Later we returned to Hereford, and arrived there about 6.30 p.m. Mr Evill came to see me: and the Archdeacon of Hereford came to dinner.
