Still the rain. I spent the morning in the Club where I wrote to the Dean about the unfortunate sale of Barnard's vols, suggesting that an attempt should be made to get the transaction cancelled. The whole family of the Greens, parents, and daughter, as well as the 3 boys, all came to the platform to see me: they had inferred from the report of yesterday's meeting that I should be travelling by the 1.30 train. I arrived in Hereford shortly after 6 p.m. & found a pile of letters awaiting me.
