424th day

I attended Mattins, & afterwards wrote a short letter to the "Challenge" commenting on a violent little 'editorial' denouncing a chaplain as "grossly disloyal to the church" for assisting at a Presbyterian celebration of Holy Communion. Then we all motored to Whorlton Hall and lunched with the Headlams. After lunch we went on to Raby where we were shown over the Castle, & had tea pleasantly with Lord & Lady Barnard. Then we returned to the Deanery. Later, we motored to Lumley Castle, & dined with the Scarbroughs, with whom are staying Herbert Fisher & his wife.
