303rd day
The sermon, undertaken with such rash confidence yesterday, hangs fire lamentably today. I attended Evensong, & walked with Logic. Ella went off to Hartlepool to attend a Bazaar. About 6.30 p.m. the two young soldiers, whom I met in the Banks yesterday & promised to show over the Cathedral, appeared to claim my promise. I 'honoured the Bill", and spent a sufficiently pleasant hour with them. After dinner I wrote a series of letters.
