The air was warm & thunderous, so that languor & headache made work out of the question. Beyond writing a few letters nothing was done. Bayley came to lunch. I attended Evensong which was followed by the National Anthem as it is the King's Accession Day. He has now reigned for five years, & done much better than anyone could have expected.
