I went to the Cathedral, & received the Sacrament. After breakfast I wrote a letter to Mary bidding her bon voyage: & then settled down to a sermon. Ella & I walked to the Golf course together. I attended Evensong, & then wrote a sheaf of letters.

The "Times" announces that Fletcher's second son, an Eton master, has shared the fate of his brother. The loss of both these fine young men is, indeed, a cruel blow.

I wrote to the Abp. of York explaining the reasons why we should probably reject His Grace's advice in the matter of appointing a vicar to Bossall.
