233rd day
I attended the service in S. Gregory's Chapel, and received the Sacrament. Then I completed a sermon for Sunday evening next. A message was brought to me that John Wilson died this morning. His son together with Fletcher, a Weslyan [Wesleyan] minister, called to see me about the funeral. They declined the service in the Cathedral, and asked me to take part in their arrangements. I consented to attend the service in the Chapel adjoining the house of the deceased, & then to go to the churchyard of St Margaret's, & give a short address. I went to see old Greenwell, & to wish him well on his birthday. He completes 95 years: and retains an astonishingly clear recollection of the past.
There are 8 rooks' nest in the front garden, & 2 in the back.
