Septuagesima, January 31st, 1915.

181st day

Snow on the ground. I celebrated at 8 a.m. Colonel Darwin, his wife, & their three sons, of whom two in uniform are just back from the front, were at the service, & received the Holy Communion very devoutly. Budworth preached at Mattins. There came to lunch Mr & Mrs Carelli, unknown folks whom Miss Graham had introduced. I attended Evensong in the Cathedral, and afterwards wrote letters. Mead–Falconer came in, & stayed to dinner. He went away with Fawkes's Studies in Modernism. I had some interesting conversation with him.
