Monday, February 1st, 1915.

I made a start with the necessary reading for the 'Edinburgh' article, and got in 3 hours at it during the day. After lunch I took Kitty for a drive in the motor car, to see the country. Two naval officers & an Austrian lady (names forgotten) had tea. We i.e. Ella, Kitty, & I, dined with the Bishop of Jarrow. Tupper–Carey was there. Voila tout.
