155th day
The morning post brought me a vigourously worded letter from Craik protesting against my sermon of last Sunday! Also, a letter from Asquith's secretary making inquiry as to the merits of Kirshbaum, whom the P.M. meditates nominating for S. Andrew's, Wells Street. I at once wrote strongly recommending K. Linetta instructed me in Italian, and during the afternoon took her departure. I attended Evensong in the Cathedral: & wrote letters.
