The 'Great Chapter' was amiable, and interesting. Gaymer attended with a model of the Cathedral, and expounded it to us. Macartney was present, and afterwards went with me into the Triforium, and above the vaulting. Seen from above the fissures have a most formidable appearance. Lieut: Lyle dined here with Culley & Hughes in order to talk over possibilities in the matter of organizing entertainments for the troops.
