93rd day

I wrote the cheques for the month's household accounts: & worked at the Yellowstone Pk. Lecture, which is becoming a nightmare. I attended the meeting of the Sherburn Trustees, but had to come away before the business had been concluded in order to motor to Bishop Auckland there to attend the unveiling of the Bishop's portrait. Lord Barnard officiated & was supported by Lord Londonderry. The Bishop made a very felicitous reply. Knowling & Cruikshank came with me in the Bishop of Jarrow's car. Ella took the Vice–Chancellor & Mrs Gee in our own car. I wrote to Lord Durham condoling with him on his brother's death.
