92nd day
I wasted the morning trying to prepare the Yellowstone Park Lecture. Miss Jones, the young lady who is editing Brut, came to lunch. She seemed amicable & intelligent: Ella says that she was also well–dressed. This for a blue–stocking is creditable. I attended the meeting of Senate, & then went to Evensong in the Cathedral. Later I motored to Ushaw Moor, taking with me the irrepressible Thwaites, the stentorian Galbraith, & a singing female. There a crowded recruiting meeting was held in a large schoolroom. I got back to the Deanery about 9 p.m.
