Thursday, April 24th, 1913.

The sudden warmth of the weather makes one feel inert & undone. However I managed to compose the address for the Cathedral service on May 3rd. I walked to the photographer, & suffered him to take two shots at my ugly face.

A letter from Sir Henry Craik expresses great indignation at the cryptic aggression of St John's on St Margaret's. He has tabled a question in the House of Commons. It will be rather interesting to see how things develope [sic] . I thought it judicious to write to Pearce in order that he might be 'seized of the facts', & able if opportunity arose to enlighten Downing Street.

Divers guests lunched here, & viewed both the Deanery & the Cathedral. Then I attended Evensong, & afterwards walked with Nickson.

Ella went off to Newcastle for another dose of Wagner. I wrote a number of letters.
