Ascension Day, May 9th, 1907.

I celebrated at 8 a.m. There were but 16 commts. At Mattins I preached an old sermon which has been published! Knox celebrated; there were 20 cts. Peile lunched with me, and we discussed the vacancy at All Saints. He seems to be partially pledged to go into the diocese of Worcester: and will let me know his final decision within a week.

Sir Kenneth Muir Mackenzie brought a party of Wyckhamists [sic] to see the Abbey. I spent an hour & a half with them.

Mr Ambrose Fletcher, a Westminster boy, came to see me to seek advice respecting religious difficulties.

We dined with the Charles Trevelyans. Shaw & his wife were there: and Miss Emmett: & Mr & Mrs Herbert Samuel.
