Tuesday, May 7th, 1907.

Reichel, in a sadly neuritic state, lunched here.

I spent most part of an hour in the Natl Portrait Gallery.

In the evening I attended a meeting of the Colonial Missionary Society in the City Temple. Ella went with me, & was given a seat in front. There was a large attendance, & the number of men was specially noteworthy. Mr Arthur Haworth M.P. for South Manchester presided, and I was a 'principal speaker'. Mrs Bramwell Booth spoke last. She blew the trumpet of the Salvation Army, but with that exception she spoke well. Her intonation was excellent.
