Good Friday, March 29th,1907.

The most ravishing weather, and a wild stampede into the country. I preached a long & difficult sermon to a small congregation, largely composed of country cousins, whose minds were filled with holiday purposes. The collection broke the record for smallness.

Harold left us this afternoon: he has resided here continuously for six months, & we shall miss him .

I walked into the city, and left a short résumé of my morning's sermon at the Times' Office.

Knox preached a very foolish sermon at Evensong, alarming me not a little, & probably offending the faithful.
