2nd Sunday after Trinity, June 24th, 1906.

Last night there was a thunderstorm, and the air this morning is still thunderous & languid.

I went to St. Margaret's at 8 a.m., and celebrated. There were but 16 commts.

The congregation at Mattins was disappointing. Perhaps it was the weather, perhaps Ascot; but the fact was too evident to be ignored. The Duke of Buccleugh was in the Parly seats, and the Solicitor General. In the Speaker's seat were Runciman and Ainsworth. Sir Edward & Lady Russell came in to lunch, and uncle Charles also.

At Evensong there was a bad congregation. Bp. Montgomery was preaching in the Abbey, & presumably some of my congregation went to hear him for old time's sake.

Rashdall and his wife came in to supper.

On Monday, Harold and I went to the zoo.

On Tuesday we dined with the Gows. Harold was reported ill.

On Wednesday I married Miss Dugdale to Mr Harrison–Broadley, and gave an address.

We dined with the Johnson–Fergussons at 55 Cadogan Sq.

On Thursday, I shewed the Dunsfold Choir over the Abbey. The Admiral was entertaining them.

I dined with Mr. Cathcart Wason at the House. There was a large party of Ministerialists. My neighbours on either side were Mr Gullon, and Mr Dalziel. After dinner I got some speech with Mr Caruthers Gould.

On Friday, I dined with the Prime Minister in Downing Street , & attended the Reception at the Foreign Office afterwards.

On Saturday we went to Lambeth, & attended the Archbishop's Garden Party.
