1st Sunday after Epiphany, January 7th, 1906.

The morning was bright, & the day held fair until about 5 p.m. when it started to rain. I celebrated at 8 a.m. when there were 34 commts. At the second celebration there were 85. At Mattins I preached, & again at Evensong. Both times the congregation was disappointing, and the offertories deplorable.

In the afternoon I went with Harold to Stratford, and there addressed a large assembly of men. Misled by a shadow on the clock–face, I spoke for more than 40 minutes, when I had not meant to speak for more than half an hour.

Harold & his sister sang a duet, to which Albert played the accompaniment.

Albert brought in to supper the brothers, Ellis. Save Harold I had no other guest.

Ella continued in bed all day.

On Thursday 11th Jany, I celebrated a marriage in S. Margaret's between Miss Robertson and Mr Aylmer Hall. At their request I gave an Address.

On Friday, 12th Jany, I entertained the Choir of S. Margaret's at dinner. Bishop Welldon Kirshbaum, Fedarb, and Albert were also of the party.

On Saturday, 13th Jany, I conducted a service in S. Margaret's in connection with the funeral of Lord Ritchie.

Lady Bridge died the same morning: and at the same time the Abbey bell tolled for her, & the bell of S. Margaret's for Lord Ritchie.

Miss Davis arrived at tea–time: & her brother, Harry, somewhat later. Raleigh joined us at dinner.
