Wilfred Lawrence Knox
Wilfred Knox (1886-1950; ODNB), prominent Anglo-Catholic clergyman and New Testament scholar; developed socialist sympathies as warden of the university settlement of Trinity College, Oxford, in Stratford, East London; against the modernists, emphasised the sacramental basis of Christian truth rather than individual belief; son of Edmund Arbuthnott, bishop of Manchester, and brother of Ronald Knox, Roman Catholic priest and apologist.
