Ronald Arbuthnott Knox
Ronald Knox (1888-1957; ODNB), youngest son of Edmund Knox, the evangelical bishop of Manchester; after a brilliant Oxford student career, ord. 1912, with Anglo-catholic sympathies; a prolific and witty journalist, controversialist, novelist (notably of detective stories) and biblical translator; received into the Roman Catholic Church in 1917; Catholic chaplain at Oxford, 1926-38; monsignor, 1936.
