Christopher Chavasse (1884-1962; ODNB), son of Francis Chavasse, bishop of Liverpool; identical twin, Noel, killed during the First World War, 1917; rector of St Aldate's, Oxford, 1922-8, and St Peter-le-Bailey, Oxford,1928-39; founding master, St Peter's Hall (now St Peter's Coll.), Oxford, 1929-39, the fulfilment of his father's aspirations for an Oxford college for evangelical students of modest means; bishop of Rochester, 1940-60.
