Friday, August 29th, 1924.

After breakfast the Burges returned to Oxford: and I betook myself to this abominable "Charge". I walked with Ernest in the Park after lunch. The weather throughout the day was dull.

That young fanatick, Wright, has accepted appointment to the parish of S. Mary Magdalene, Sunderland. It is unquestionably a venturous thing to bring him into the diocese, and give him a position of independence, but one must risk something, and, at least, he is zealous & unselfish.
