I wrote to the Bishop of Chelmsford asking definitely what he intended to do in the matter of his notice of motion. Then I made some notes on my predecessor for use this afternoon: then I revised sermons for use on Sunday.
Clayton and I attended Canon Martin's funeral at Kelloe. I read the Committal prayer, & gave the Benediction. Then we raced back to Auckland to attend the service in the Chapel, at which the Moule Memorial Window was dedicated. I made a brief oration about the Bishop . Then the company had tea in the large dining–room. Gilbert Darwin arrived for the week–end; & played bowls with me.
The weather became again uncomfortably cold.
