Friday, January 13th, 1922.

There was a sharp frost, and at nightfall there was snow. I worked at a sermon for St Nicholas, Durham. After lunch, Clayton and I motored into Durham, where I presided at a meeting of the Religious Education Board. We returned to Auckland after the meeting.

Edward Smith talked freely about the situation in Russia. On the whole he confirms the most sinister of the reports which have reached this country.

Ella, Mrs Headlam, Fearne, & Ernest went to the Hunt Ball at Raby Castle.
