Ash Wednesday, March 5th, 1919.

I went to the Cathedral, & there celebrated the Holy Commn. After breakfast I settled to work on the Preface, & resumed in the afternoon. Bulmer called on me to report progress. It seems that there is a chance that the redoubtable Corner will accept the reconstruction programme after all. Wynne–Willson did the letters. Voila tout!
