I finished the Temple sermon: instituted Riddell to Bullinghope, & Buss to Cardington: presided over a meeting in the dining room to form a non–party Reconstruction Committee: and wrote letters. The weather was cold but fine all day. I wrote a little letter to the "Times" headed "The predominant partner", calling attention to the curious absence of Englishmen from the representatives of the Empire at the Paris Conference.
