My guests dispersed after breakfast. We made our preparations for departure, & came away by the midday train for Oxford to spend Christmas with the Pembers. There was no crowd, & we reached Oxford fairly to time. Frank & I dined together in the Common room, very pleasantly recalling the time – 34 years ago – when first we came together into the College. There was a pleasant party, enlivened by some admirable acting by our hostess & Katherine.
