Thursday, December 12th, 1918.

Still in bed and very disgusted. My place in the Cathedral was taken by Moore, the Vicar of St Peter's who is accounted to be the most eloquent of the city incumbents. I am sorry that promising little arrangement has broken down so far as the Bishop goes.

I dictated to Ella letters to Rashdall and Fawkes. Caröe made his expedition to Weobley after lunch, & brought back a glowing account of both church and parson.
