1564th day

I mooned away the morning, having so heavy a cold that work was out of the question. Mr Fernandez, the Vicar of Dewsall came to lunch. I distributed the prizes to the Cathedral School in the Town Hall, and made a speech which I concluded by asking for an additional week's holidays in honour of the Victory. The Dean presided, and there was a numerous company of parents and townsfolk. I wrote a series of letters in answer to those who had written to me for my Birthday: and then I subjected myself to the wholesome discipline of the hottest bath I could sustain.
