I wrote a long letter to Major on the subject of what is called "Exchange of Pulpits". Compston arrived at lunch time, & after lunch we motored to Bredwardine, and made an examination of both Church & Vicarage. I introduced him to both the Churchwardens. We had tea with Mrs Williams. He decided to stay the night at the Inn: & we promised to call for him on our return from Brampton Bryan tomorrow afternoon.
