1429th day

The new gardener, Mr Oliver Jones, has begun his work. He may be worth 45/– a week, but he hardly looks so valuable. However time will show. I travelled to Shrewsbury, and presided at a meeting of the Ludlow Archdeaconry Educational Association. Mr Wright from Leominster attended, and expounded a project for absorbing the Association into the Board of Finance, but to little effect. The matter was postponed for a year. I got back to Hereford by 6.15 p.m.: and went to the Palace, & wrote letters. Mrs Percival, a friend of Ella's arrived.
