1282nd day

I attended the Celebration in Henry VII's Chapel. The Bishop of London officiated in the absence of the Archbishop, who was attending a Committee for the Reconstruction of the House of Lords. Then I sate in the Upper House of Convocation until lunch time. The Bishops of London & Winchester made civil speeches about me, but they had a hollow sound, & rather increased than mitigated my resentment. I lunched with Sir John & Lady Struthers. Sir William Macormack [McCormick] & Mr Munro, the Secretary for Scotland, were also present, & we had much interesting conversation. We called on Lady Ilbert and had tea with her. Then we walked back to Lambeth, where I wrote a number of letters. The Bishops of Peterborough & St Edmundsbury & Ipswich came to dinner: also Mr Aitken the Vicar of Lambeth, the Prolocutor, & the Archdeacon of Norfolk (?) [sic]
