946th day

Much of the snow had vanished through the night. I received the Holy Communion at 8 a.m. At 8.30 a.m. I met Bishop Quirk, Bayley & Freeman in the Chapter House to consider what could be done in the way of using the vergers & sub–vergers as gardeners. We decided to make a vegetable garden of the piece of ground land by the white gate, & to place Freeman in charge. The duties in the Cathedral could be performed by turns: half the men working on the ground & half in the church. I attended Mattins & Evensong.
