2nd Sunday in Lent, March 4th, 1917.

I celebrated at 8 a.m.: I preached at the Church Parade at 10 a.m. The Judge attended Mattins. Ella & I lunched at the Archdeacon's to meet him. Lord Durham & Lady Anne Lambton, Sir Timothy Eden & his mother, & the High Sheriff & Mrs Hustler were there. I preached at Evensong. The Judge & his Marshall came to tea. I shewed them the Cathedral, & Ella shewed them the House. Col: Herne also came to tea.
