1st Sunday in Lent, February 25th, 1917.

937th day

I preached at the Church Parade: attended Mattins & heard an admirable sermon from Cruickshank: celebrated the Holy Communion: and preached the terminal sermon of the Durham Inter–collegiate Christian Union in Hatfield Hall Chapel. There were 17 male students, and as many female with Jevons, Pace, & Mrs Ellershaw. Philip came in to tea, & had some talk with me. Dolphin & his wife were at lunch; also Miss Cooper. Then I wrote letters, & so brought to an end a Sunday which was at once busy & futile!
