588th day

I celebrated (vice the Canon in Residence) at 8 a.m. A fine salmon arrived from Lord Glenconner. Ella went off to Newcastle. I wrote a series of letters, & sent copies of "Robertson" to several people, adding the request that they would promote its sale. Ernest walked with me after lunch, & we had much conversation. I attended Evensong in the cathedral, and afterwards wrote more letters. After dinner, & almost until midnight Ernest and I had converse together.
