Still the snow, and & colder than ever. I received the Holy Communion at 8 a.m.: & thereafter kept indoors, a sharp little attack of lumbago making me more than commonly disinclined for exertion. Macdonald from Hartlepool came in to tea, full of the mission which the Bishops have resolved to run in the autumn.
I feel very sceptical about the success of anything engineered by the Episcopal Bench. The one version of the English Bible which failed to commend itself to the English people was precisely the Bishops' Bible!
