543rd day

[symbol]

This day was employed in an expedition to Wylam, where a Drawing room meeting had been arranged in the House of Mrs Newall in aid of Serbians & Assyrian Christians. Mr Heazell, the Secretary of a Relief Fund, spoke for the last, and I had been hustled into speaking for the first. About forty good women came together, & others sent excuses & contributions. Thus a sum of £70 was raised, & divided between the two societies. On my return to the Deanery I found awaiting me another pleasant letter from the Master of Trinity, with a volume of verses, Latin & English. I caused a typed copy of my Robertson Lecture to be made, & sent it to Messrs Smith, Elder & Co., who indicated their readiness to publish it, & requested to see it. The sermon in S. Margt's, if it is ever finished, might be added.
