Fawkes and I went round the Cathedral together, and up into the triforium and roof in order to see the progress of the new work. We attended Evensong, & then motored to Finchale, and inspected the ruins of the Abbey. The old farmer there is full of the atrocities of the Germans, and the depredations of the foxes. He seems to regard them as phases of a single phenomenon! Ella returned from London.
