280th day

We motored out to the Palace, a fair sized house designed by Caröe, & costing £14,000. It is sufficient but unimpressive. Then we visited the noble church of St Mary Redcliffe: and walked back to the house to recover our baggage, take an early lunch, & get off to the station. Our host, the Talbots, are kind but elusive. We travelled together as far as Cheltenham, where we parted, Ella getting out to visit her relatives at Charlton Kings: & I continuing on my way to Durham, where I arrived somewhere about 5.15 p.m.
