The brightness of the sun made poor amends for the searching coldness of the east wind. I made an attempt to write a review of the Archbishop's Kikuyu Judgment, but with scant success. The fact is that I am embarrassed by the completeness of my disapproval, & cannot decently say what I think. Of course the judgement will satisfy nobody, and disgust many: but it will serve its purpose of averting a sharp collision of parties, &, assisted by the public indifference, will tide the hierarchy over the shoals of domestic crisis.
