Jim & Clara left for London by the 11.28 train. Ella and I walked together for an hour after lunch, & then attended Evensong in the Cathedral. I worked at the Magna Carta lecture, but not very successfully, for I cannot decide upon the form of the composition. The narrative is too familiar: & the document itself too technical.
