The violent tempest, which has raged for the last two days, has swept away four of the nine rooks' nests in the front garden. I attended Mattins, & then read the minutely erudite pages of Round's "Feudal England". In the afternoon I attended the meeting of the Sherburn Trustees. Ruth Spooner is confined to the house with a portentously clamourous cold: but she played to us after dinner very charmingly.
