148th day

A fine but cold day. I wrote a short address on "Carols" for tonight's service, & then went to the Shire Hall, & attended Relief Committees. After lunch I took Linetta for a walk round the wood. The bright afternoon sun reflected in the windows of the cathedral had a very splendid effect. I attended Evensong in the Cathedral, & afterwards wrote letters. I sent a cheque for £200. To Eyre & Spottiswoode as an instalment of my debt for the printing of the St Margaret's 'Records'. There was but a poor attendance at the carol service, & the carols themselves were not particularly well chosen. Finally, I had another Italian lesson from Linetta.
