143rd day

I wrote letters, & then went to the Cathedral & performed the marriage ceremony between Caroline Lucy Mumby and Edward Hopper Anderson. The departure of an agreeable & trustworthy house–maid after seven years service is an event. Marion & I walked round the wood after lunch, but found the roads dangerously slippery with the ice. I attended Evensong in the Cathedral, & wrote more letters.
