121st day
A violent wind started to blow about midday, & developed into a considerable tempest driving sheets of rain before it. Through this unamiable weather I went to Jarrow in the motor–car, and there distributed prizes to the pupils of the Secondary School. There was a large assembly of friends & relatives to whom I made a speech about the war & education. I got back to the Deanery about 10 p.m.: and found that during my absence Mrs Travers Lewis had arrived.
