114th day

In the afternoon Ella & I together with Mrs Low [Lowe], motored to Newcastle in order to see the new Aviation Works established by Messrrs Armstrong & Co. The foggy weather made flying impossible, but we inspected several machines, and were shown over the works. I had no idea that aeroplanes were such highly complicated machines. It takes about 12 weeks to build an aeroplane, & the cost is approximately £1000. The Company hope to provide about 50 machines for the Navy within the next four months.
